Wednesday 5th June – windsurf *** The Manor, Felixstowe – sunny periods and warm

F2 Xantos 310 with 44 cm fin and Tushingham Lightning 8.5.

Fin – 23.85 knot max., 21.69 knot ave., 15.86 knot hour, 19.57 knot mile, 56.60 km., 16.42 knot alpha.

A bit of a bonus session today my 8th in 13 days with more wind on the way with Saturday looking particularly promising:) Todays forecast was for 15 knots early then dropping off during the day but Simon Chippington was rigging at West Mersea and Michael Galbraith also going I checked Landguard and it was WSW gusting to 15 knots so I decided to hitch the trailer and once again head to The Manor as the sun was out with rain coming later. Mag came down so she could walk back along the prom and the wind was a fraction off but enough for big kit but the launching/rigging bay was full of fishermen with more coming so we drove the short distance back and got a prime parking spot by the end of the prom:) I rigged quickly and as Mag set off on the walk home I left the beach and soon hit the wind line and whizzed out to sea. Once again, I went for an hour by sailing out to Wadgate post 8 times, in the end I did 10 planing most of the time although the direction was swinging a little and the sea was a little lumpy! Still it was nice to be out in the sun and it took 45 minutes to full in so I must be getting the hang of gybing the big board:) Mag had adjusted my new GW-60 gps watch but I still used my GT-31 as well which is just as well because the watch keep losing the signal:( So an OK session and back home for lunch in the garden with Mag.
PS - I nealy forgot, when I came ashore my Big Xantos had a large crack across the nose but as the board is full of holes it’s for the bin as I have a replacement in the garage:)
